Portfolio Audits Compliment the Work of In-house IP Teams
In my blog this past May, I explored why companies without in-house IP counsel should undertake patent portfolio audits. But even for companies with strong internal IP teams, independent audits are just as valuable. Familiarity with existing portfolios can sometimes obscure overlooked risks or missed opportunities—and an objective outside review helps surface those blind spots.
Portfolios managed by even the best IP teams can still benefit from an objective audit.
I’ve since expanded on the issues associated with portfolio audits for companies that already have in-house IP teams, particularly the value of a fresh, unbiased perspective. That article, titled “Driving Innovation: the Power of Independent Audits to Maximise Patent Strategies,” was recently published by IAM Media. You can read it here.
