Leveraging two decades of expertise to provide strategic patent counseling for innovators and businesses.

FOUNDER BIO

Andrew Jagenow has spent the past two decades helping clients protect and leverage their intellectual property. He began his legal career at large general practice firms in Boston, where he learned to approach patents as strategic business tools, not just legal documents. Early on, he focused on mastering the fundamentals of patent drafting and prosecution. Over time, his practice evolved to include all aspects of patent strategy—portfolio development, white space analysis, layered protection strategies, and more.

After moving to an IP boutique in Denver, Andrew built his own practice centered on strategic patent counseling. While expanding his advisory role, he continued to draft and prosecute applications, maintaining a hands-on approach to all aspects of the practice. In the latter half of his first two decades in practice, he also managed teams of attorneys and agents, overseeing the development of extensive patent portfolios for a wide range of clients.

In early 2024, Andrew stepped away from his practice to pursue his passion for travel, both domestic and international. Many of the photos on this website were taken during that time—or on earlier journeys. (No, they’re not related to patent law, but they’re more interesting than stock images of conference rooms and handshakes.) This time away gave him space to reflect on how he could better serve clients going forward.

Later that year, he founded Jagenow Patent Services, bringing with him deep experience in strategic IP counseling. His work includes patent drafting and portfolio development, always grounded in business objectives and tailored to the unique needs of each client. Free from the constraints of traditional law firm structures, Andrew is able to act as temporary in-house counsel for companies, helping to maintain or develop their patent strategies. Having seen the results of portfolios that have grown without sufficient oversight, he also offers portfolio audits and analyses geared toward companies that lack dedicated in-house IP counsel.

As Founder of Jagenow Patent Services, Andrew remains committed to exceptional client service and thoughtful, business-driven counseling. He is admitted to practice in Colorado and Massachusetts (inactive), and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
